Privacy, security & research ethics
Qualitative interviews often involve vulnerable people and confidential accounts. We treat your recordings and transcripts as sensitive research data. This page explains exactly how your data is handled, what we promise, and what stays your responsibility as the researcher.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
All uploads and downloads travel over HTTPS, and files are stored encrypted at rest.
Never used to train AI
We process audio through an enterprise AI provider on a paid, contractually protected tier. Under those terms, your audio and transcripts are not used to train AI models and are not reviewed for product improvement.
You choose how long audio is kept
Choose from one to 7 days at upload. Your audio is deleted automatically after that. Transcripts remain until you delete them.
Private to your account
Only you can see your files and transcripts in the app, and you can permanently delete any job, including both the audio and the transcript, at any time.
How your data flows
- You upload an audio file. It is sent over an encrypted connection and stored encrypted.
- The audio is processed by our enterprise AI engine (paid, no-training tier) solely to produce your Bangla + English transcript.
- The transcript is saved to your account. You can edit, download (Word/text), or delete it.
- The original audio is automatically deleted after the retention period you chose (max 7 days).
Who processes your data (sub-processors)
We use a small number of trusted infrastructure providers, each only for the role listed:
- Enterprise AI provider (paid, no-training tier): transcription and translation. Data on this tier is contractually excluded from model training.
- Encrypted cloud storage: holds your audio during the retention window.
- Managed database provider: account, authentication, and transcript database, encrypted at rest.
- Cloud hosting provider: application hosting over HTTPS.
The full named sub-processor list is available to institutional clients on request (for example, for ethics-board or data-protection review). Contact us via WhatsApp or your account manager.
Access & confidentiality
Your recordings and transcripts are private to your account and not shared with other users. A small number of our operators can access infrastructure when strictly necessary to run the service or help you with support. They are bound to keep your data confidential and never use it for any other purpose. We never sell your data, and we never share it with third parties except the sub-processors above that make the service work.
Retention and deletion: your control
- Audio: deleted automatically after the one to 7 days you select at upload.
- Transcripts: kept in your account until you delete them.
- Delete anytime: the Delete button on any job permanently removes both the audio and the transcript.
- Account closure: contact us to erase your account and all associated data.
Your responsibilities as the researcher
Trustworthy research depends on you, the data controller. By uploading, you confirm that you:
- have obtained informed consent from participants to record and process their interview;
- are uploading in line with your ethics/IRB approval and any agreements with the community;
- will handle and store the resulting transcripts responsibly, anonymising where required.
We ask you to confirm this every time you upload.
